A vacancy has occurred on the Parish Council.
The attached Notice of Vacancy, issued by the Borough Council, explains that local electors have the right to request an election to fill the vacancy. To do this, ten electors registered to vote in the parish must submit a written request to the Returning Officer within 14 working days of the date of the notice.
If an election is requested, the vacancy will be filled by a public election.
If no election is requested within this period, the Parish Council must fill the vacancy by co-option. This means the Parish Council will invite applications from eligible residents and will select a new councillor at a public council meeting.
